Three Weeks In...

What I've Been Doing

Well this quarter is going great! I love my baking and pastry class even more than I thought I would. My teacher is crazy but awesome! She knows so much about what she is teaching, she knows the executive Pastry chef at the Trump Tower. Its amazing how many contections she has. Chef Borg even lives in the same building as two of the Blackhawks players! If you don't know who the Blackhawks are they are the Chicago's hockey team, who are in the playoff right now. Isn't that crazy! She had many conversations with the two before she knew what their jobs were. Baking is so calming and peaceful. I love being in the pastry kitchen. It feels like home, like I'm ment to be there.

What I've Been Reading

On Cooking is the book I've mostly been reading these days. I've also been reading for my theatre class, which isn't to exciting at all. I've read A Raisin in the Sun again, Taming of the Shrew, and The Inspecter General by Gogol. I'm really liking Gogol, he is really funny. I have yet to finish Through the Looking Glass because of all the reading I have to do for theatre. I would love to read more but I can't fit it in.

I'm a Sophomore

What I've Been Doing

I've got all A's last quarter, rocking a 4.0 here in Chicago. So I've been studying the Basics of Baking and the Art of Garde. I love this quarter and this is only week two. I've been cooking a lot around the dorm, making pasta and tuna dishes. I've been planning what my group's cocktail party menu for our practical in Garde, it is going to be bad ass! I can't wait to do this practical. So awesome! We are going to ace this one. I went to the Celtic fest the other day and got a foam lobster...that's right a lobster. I've trying to figure out a name for the little guy, but have had no luck.

What I've Been Reading

I've started reading The Escoffier Cook Book. Escoffier was a kitchen saint! He is amazing and the way he wrote this cookbook is amazing. It sounds like I'm  listening to an old wise man passing on his endless wisdom with me. Crazy I know, but I am somewhat crazy so it all works. I've also gotten to Through The Looking Glass in the Alice in Wonderland series, I'm very proud of reading these two books because they are classics. Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes is on my re-read books list. I need to have a get away that gives me a happy European trip book. I need help figuring out what other books to read. Any ideas?
