Week Seven...haha

What I've Been Doing and Reading
I really haven't been up to much lately. I've been reading a lot, non textbook books! Shocking I know. I have had to read for my teacher class and have been making a point to be reading atleast ten pages of something else a day, I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty and started The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. I have also been working a story of my own. I don't know how well this will work out but here's hoping all goes well. I'm at about eight pages, single spaced and eleven font, so a grand total of 3,360 words. I personally think its going well. I have asked some of my favorite authors for advice, even though I haven't followed it to a T, like writing everyday. I've also been watching a lot of dramas to fuel my story, I watched the entire series of Dawson's Creek. I had never seen it and I actually liked it. It was so good, for a series that was made a while ago. I have also been really excited for the new show, Pretty Little Liars. The second episode is on and I can't wait to see what happens. The first episode went through the first book! I don't know how they are going to mess with what happens but I'm excited to see how they do it. It is a creepy show but as like all ABC Family shows the acting is the best part to watch, like a train wreck you can't stop watching. I found out today that the new Transformers movie will be shooting in Chicago! I've been looking up when and where they are shooting. I am going to find them! I want to see Shia in person! I love him in these movies. I can't believe they are replacing Megan Fox! They aren't even going to kill off or have Sam and her break up, just replace the actress. The woman replacing her is a model for Victoria Secret, so it isn't promising!

Three Weeks In...

What I've Been Doing

Well this quarter is going great! I love my baking and pastry class even more than I thought I would. My teacher is crazy but awesome! She knows so much about what she is teaching, she knows the executive Pastry chef at the Trump Tower. Its amazing how many contections she has. Chef Borg even lives in the same building as two of the Blackhawks players! If you don't know who the Blackhawks are they are the Chicago's hockey team, who are in the playoff right now. Isn't that crazy! She had many conversations with the two before she knew what their jobs were. Baking is so calming and peaceful. I love being in the pastry kitchen. It feels like home, like I'm ment to be there.

What I've Been Reading

On Cooking is the book I've mostly been reading these days. I've also been reading for my theatre class, which isn't to exciting at all. I've read A Raisin in the Sun again, Taming of the Shrew, and The Inspecter General by Gogol. I'm really liking Gogol, he is really funny. I have yet to finish Through the Looking Glass because of all the reading I have to do for theatre. I would love to read more but I can't fit it in.

I'm a Sophomore

What I've Been Doing

I've got all A's last quarter, rocking a 4.0 here in Chicago. So I've been studying the Basics of Baking and the Art of Garde. I love this quarter and this is only week two. I've been cooking a lot around the dorm, making pasta and tuna dishes. I've been planning what my group's cocktail party menu for our practical in Garde, it is going to be bad ass! I can't wait to do this practical. So awesome! We are going to ace this one. I went to the Celtic fest the other day and got a foam lobster...that's right a lobster. I've trying to figure out a name for the little guy, but have had no luck.

What I've Been Reading

I've started reading The Escoffier Cook Book. Escoffier was a kitchen saint! He is amazing and the way he wrote this cookbook is amazing. It sounds like I'm  listening to an old wise man passing on his endless wisdom with me. Crazy I know, but I am somewhat crazy so it all works. I've also gotten to Through The Looking Glass in the Alice in Wonderland series, I'm very proud of reading these two books because they are classics. Thirteen Little Blue Envelopes is on my re-read books list. I need to have a get away that gives me a happy European trip book. I need help figuring out what other books to read. Any ideas?

I know I suck at Blogging...

What I've Been Doing

I have mostly been hanging out with my friends, cooking, and watching a lot of the history channel and Glee. I love Glee! The Power Of Madonna episode was awesome! Classes went well this quarter. I got to see my culinary partner kill a lobster! That was so cool to see. I got to cut the head off a squab...aka a pigeon! We made oysters rockefeller but made them into oysters Nicole Aubrie because we added red bell pepper instead of liquor. They were yummy! I've also kept up the running but my running partner just moved out yesterday. Alot of my friends are leaving for the summer but I'm staying here. Its going to be a sweet summer. I'm trying to go to Wizard Comic Con to meet William Shatner! I can't wait to see if I'm going! I'm also getting tickects to see my favorite band, Cute Is What We Aim For, in June. I just went home last weekend and it was a bunch of fun! Can't wait for the fourth of July to see the family, all of them! I want to see Erin, Drew, and James so much! Haven't see you all in almost a year! Crazy!

What I've Been Reading

Well I've been reading a bunch since I got my Nook for my birthday! I love that thing. I've read Dracula, The Living Dead Girl, Tempted, Radiant Shadows, Wicked Lovely, and Alice in Wonderland. Radiant Shadows was amazing! I love the way the author writes, it makes me want to just keep reading all the time. I also have been reading my On Cooking textbook because my pracitcal is tomorrow and one of the dishes we have never made...awesome right?

Week One...for the Third Time

What I've Been Doing

This was my first week of my third quarter in college. I have now another Culinary Skills class, Nutrition, Argumentative English, and Menu Development. I have my first Culinary chef instructor back and my management class teacher for my Menu Development class.  Finals went great. I made my first hollandaise all by myself for my final and it was the best one I've ever made...so good! I went to see Shutter Island the weekend before my finals and OMG it was so good! I loved it. I thought it was one of Leo's best movies in the past ten years. I have been hanging out with my friend Amber pretty much everyday. We have ran/jogged twice this week...both times we went THREE MILES, to Navy Pier and back to Fornelli. I feel great that I did it and finished both times! I'm really excited for my dad, Kim, and some of his co-workers and their spouses to come in next weekend. I can't wait to see all of them.

What I've Been Reading

I have only been reading my textbooks. My main book that I really like a lot is Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy for my nutrition class. I really am excited for all my favorite series to be continuing this spring and summer! I can't wait to read all the new details all the authors are writing about. Blue Bloods better be awesome! I love that series and how the author writes.

Finals...Already

What I've Been Doing

Life in Chicago has been a blast in the last couple of weeks. I've been to Open Mic's, learned new card games, and started doing yoga. I've decided that I want to go for a quarter abroad in London next summer with my culinary partner,Aubrie, but am going to have to raise a lot of money.

I've made a lot of cool food this quarter and more good food on Thursday. We made lamb last week...so yummy. I've been taking more liberty on how things are made and devating from the recipe, which is going well. Next week I get to pick a menu out of a hat and make it from memory, but atleast I'm going to get an ingredient list from my teacher. Next quarter's class is going to be all about chicken and fish...yum!

My English class has been awesome and I feel like I've learned so much in a little amount of time from Coach. She's great and hopefully I get her next quarter. We had a Vietnam Vet come in and speak to the class about his experience in the war on graves duty. He looked like a little mouse, he was tiny and highpitched.

My management class has been great. Mr. D is such a great teacher. He makes people pay attention in class unlike my College as Career teacher, which by the way I don't know her name. He told us that one day he will eat for free where ever we are all working because he's going to be keeping track of the culinary students and what we are all up to.

What I'm Reading

Just finished Suite Scarlett and Giving Up the V, I'm in the middle of Jamie's Food Revolution. Also ON COOKING...my culinary book for class.

Back to School Again...

Well my first week back was interesting. We learned about and cooked baby cow...aka veal. I feel for the poor baby but hey its already on that path so why not make it taste good if its already dead. I tried sweetbreads for the first time and lets say it like Racheal Ray...yumm-o! It was so yummy. English is going ok, got a 98 on my first paper for her class. I was happy when I saw that. This week we have to choose a song that is our motto on how to live life, min is The River By Garth Brooks. My country roots are showing now. College As Career is still a pain in my bottom...making another resume...so much fun, not! My management class is going well, nothing new to report there. He's still crazy and now I know what slot machines I should use when I decide to go to the boats. There has been a lot of snow up here almost didn't have class one day because of it, but she made it in so we could cook that veal.

Well Bye!

2010...its been a decade...

I can't believe its been a decade already....10 years ago everyone was relieved that Y2K didn't kill all of us...1 year ago I was in California on the Queen Mary after the Rose Bowl Parade...crazy to think it was a year ago. Well I'm on the dean's list for my first quarter of college. I'm taking a meats class this quarter, a restuarant managment class, English 131, and College As Career (the worst of the bunch!). English isn't to bad just some of the people in the class need to learn not to interupt others while they are speaking... Meats is cool, learning how to fabricate meat is something I've been looking forward to doing. My teacher for restaurant managment was in the the Vietnam war, so he isn't afraid to offend people at all. He's amusing as a teacher and makes class worth showing up.

Haven't been able to sit down and read a good book...tear...but I have been reading a lot out of my On Cooking Book...aka the Bible for Culinary Students, with some pretty highlighters so I don't get distracted while I'm reading it. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person with homework because everyone else doesn't do it or they wait till like one a.m. to do it.

Being home is amazing, don't want to leave but I have to get back to reality...no bueno...but I have to deal with it sometime. The shortness of the break isn't bad because if I went back on the 18th like everyone that was let out on Dec. 18 I would be bored and resent Blue Springs and not appreciate being home and the city. I would just want to go back as soon as possible, but with my break I get to enjoy and love it to the fullest while I'm able to be home.

Well it's dinner time at the Koskovich Ranch...

P.S. Any ideas for my New Year's Resolution?
